Cyber Update: August 25, 2010
We had an amazing weekend at Crossroads this past weekend at both of our campuses. God moved in some dramatic ways. Since many of you asked for a copy of the prayer I ended the message with in Woodbury, I thought I would include it here (with some context). Breaking “generational sin” isn’t easy. To do so, you must engage in warfare. Spiritual warfare. Let me explain…
We have an enemy. Satan (a.k.a.) the devil. A fallen angel. When Satan lost the heavenly battle he waged against God’s angels, the Bible says he was thrown down to earth. Believe it or not, he’s real. He’s out to kill and destroy anything of God (including us). He wins when sin grips our lives. He wins when sin gets passed down from generation to generation, as we saw in the story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
We have an enemy and we are at war. It’s a spiritual battle. And spiritual battles are won with spiritual weapons. The Bible makes this clear in Ephesians 6:10-18. Maybe you’re thinking, “But hasn’t Jesus already won the ultimate victory over Satan/evil?” Yes, read the end of the book of Revelation. But, between now and when that happens, we have to realize that the battle is still raging. And we must fight.
That leads me back to the prayer I shared at the end of the message. Here it is: “Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross and for rising from the grave to set me free. I ask you to cleanse me from my sin and set me free. [speak the next part out loud] Satan, in the name of Jesus Christ, flee from my life and my family. You have no authority over me or my family. Jesus, my life belongs to you and you alone. You are my Rescuer, you are my Redeemer, and you are my Remedy. I pray this all in your powerful name, Amen.”
Our Eagan campus gets to hear this message on generational sin this weekend. As always, the message is on-line under The A-Team series if you missed it. Or, you can travel to Eagan and worship with our Eaganites and experience the teaching there. Starting soon, both campuses are linking up and will be hearing the same message on the same weekend (no more week delay in Eagan)!
Speaking of The A-Team, James Brown is up this weekend at our Woodbury campus with a message on Jacob, The Wrestler. I just read it…it’s powerful. I believe God’s going to use it in profound ways.
That’s it for now. I’m so grateful that “nothing is too difficult for our God to untangle!” Be encouraged by that.
