As quoted at Crossroads this past weekend, the late Andy Rooney once said, “Go to bed. What you’re staying up for isn’t worth it.”
Without Jesus Christ, Mr. Rooney was right on. Take away Bethlehem and Golgotha, write off the resurrection, and we’re stuck in sin with no chance of defeating death. Go to bed.
Disregard the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, and today is as good as it’s ever going to get. Wrong will never be made right. Evil will prevail. Lock the doors. Go to bed. Stay in bed.
The good news, friends, is that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega…the beginning and the end. He not only starts (creates) things, he also finishes (completes) things. A day is coming when he will return just like he promised. He will make all things new. He will put an exclamation point on human history!
So…go to bed at night. You need your sleep. But then get out of bed and get to work. There are people everywhere who are living without hope. Winsomely and passionately point them to Jesus. Life with him (both now and for eternity) is worth staying up for!
