BE DO GO
At Crossroads, we want to change the world by becoming a movement of Jesus-like people doing Jesus-like stuff. Our movement will only be as strong as the people who make up Crossroads Church. The more “like Jesus” we become and the more “Jesus-like stuff” we do, the greater the impact in the world.
So how do we become more like Jesus in character and conduct?
Answer: By prioritizing our lives around three simple words: BE. DO. GO.
Be at Crossroads on the weekend. Prioritize showing up. Be with God and his people. Something miraculous happens when God’s people are gathered. God speaks. Hearts are moved. The church becomes the body of Christ.
This priority was modeled by Jesus. The Bible says in Luke 4:6, that Jesus “went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath.” As we make “being here” with others in God’s presence an “as usual” habit, something powerful happens in our lives.
Do the spiritual practices that Jesus did. Prioritize pursuing God each day. Take the time to read the Bible and pray. Make the commitment to get into a small group.
Jesus modeled these practices. In Luke 5:16 it says that Jesus “often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.” He got away from the noise and the crowds, by himself, to hear his father’s voice.
Jesus also modeled the importance of community, in Mark 3:13 tells us that Jesus went up on a mountain and “called out the ones he wanted to go with him.” He knew the value of doing life with others.
As we withdraw from the business of life to pursue God individually and in
community, we are transformed.
Go and love. Prioritize others above yourself. Use the gifts, talents, and resources that God had given you to help others. Go represent Jesus. Be the voice, hands and feet of Jesus in a hurting and spiritually thirsty world. Go bring what’s happening in heaven right now to Earth.
In Matthew 6, Jesus invites us to pray this way to the Father: “May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” As we prioritize love, God’s Kingdom expands and God’s will is done, and Earth becomes a little more like heaven.
