Paul and his wife Kari of 28 years have four adult children and have attended Crossroads since 2003. They now attend the Hastings campus. Paul was an elder at Crossroads for 10 years and Chairman for four of those years. He spent most of his working career as President and COO of two large manufacturing companies, Spectro Alloys Corporation and ReConserve, Inc. Paul has served on several boards of directors of both for profit and non-profit organizations. In 2017, he and Kari started Almquist Farm, a wedding and event venue on their fifth-generation family farm south of Hastings. I am married to my wonderful husband Mark for over 20 years. We have 3 children- Doug, Josh and Grace. Doug and Josh are both in college and Grace is our last at home. We have been attending Crossroads Church for over 15 years.

Christian service. Crossroads Elder Board 2009- 2014. Have served as greeter, small group leader, children ministry, and cafe over the years and I am currently on the Crossroads Hastings Impact Team. Prior to Crossroads Church, I was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. I volunteer and have volunteered at all of my kids schools for numerous years- everything from lunch lady, to Moms in Touch Prayer group, chaperone for school events and currently lots and lots of carpooling each week for our daughter Grace who attends Trinity School at River Ridge in Eagan.I was raised Catholic, but fell away from church and religion as a teenager. I was raised in an abusive home, so what I was taught in Catholic school and what I was witnessing at home left me angry and disillusioned. I became pregnant as a teenager, married an abusive man and struggled to survive. After two little boys and years of abuse in the marriage, my former husband threatened to kill me. It was then, that God showed me a way out, God rescued me and my sons. Despite my anger with God, despite the hypocrisy I felt, despite all the sins I had committed, God never abandoned me. Instead, He brought people in my life to walk a journey of healing, people who taught me how to have a personal relationship with Jesus and most importantly, led me to faith in a God of forgiveness and healing and salvation.
Crossroads church is a place for all of the broken, the lost, the hurting- a place to find Jesus despite the mess we make of ourselves- and that is why I have served and wish to continue serving in this place.

Hello, Crossroads family! I grew up in a small town just north of Milwaukee (Saukville) and moved to Minnesota after college (UW-Eau Claire) to start my career at 3M. Despite having obtained my Bachelors in Chemistry, I have worked in multiple roles within 3M not related to that subject, including purchasing agent, quality engineer, Lean Six Sigma black belt, and most recently program manager from within the laboratory driving the commercialization of new medical devices. During my career I have attained multiple certifications in quality, Lean Six Sigma, and am a Professional Manager of Projects (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.
My family and I came to Crossroads in 2013 looking for a family-friendly church with a heart for service - and we found that at Crossroads! My wife (Kim), older son (Micah), and I brought our younger son (Josiah) to our first Family Faith night when he was only two weeks old and have been very active in the church since. My volunteer roles over the past five years have included the cafe, children's ministry worship leader, special event parking, and most recently vocals for the Woodbury worship team.
When not at work or church, I am very active in the community, participate as a competitive long-distance runner, and utilize my prior experience as a gymnast to coach boys gymnastics. In these and all other activities in my life, I seek excellence and continuous improvement of both myself and those people and organizations to which I am associated in search of the personal goal I have of leaving this world better than how I found it. I look forward to applying these principles, strategic and thorough mindset, energy, and passion to the position on the Elder Board.
