Matthew
11:28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will
give you rest.”
What
do I say to someone who is overwhelmed by life? This question is personal
to me, as I pray for wisdom and insight – seeking truth to counter the lies
this world is telling them.
There
is beautiful verse just before the one above, verse 27, where Jesus is praying
and expresses thanksgiving that no one truly knows the Son (Jesus) except the
Father (God), and no one truly know the Father except the Son. That is a
truth to counter the lies. It is real for all of us. No one really
knows our hearts and souls except our heavenly Father, but His knowing is
complete and gracious and love filled.
That
same Father, that knows our most intimate thoughts, loves us so much that He
offers us - -no, begs us - - to hand over our burdens. He wants to
give us rest.
Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about
anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him
for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace,
which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and
minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
This Sunday – we will
surround ourselves with prayer. We will take time to join together and
support each other. Bring your burdens. Bring anyone with you that
you know needs peace.
