Rt 66 SOAP for Saturday, November 26

SOAP = Scripture Observation Application Prayer

James Brown

S: Acts 24.24-25: 24 After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.”

O: Paul’s life continues to be threatened and “anything he says [at this point], can and will be used against him.” So what does he talk about? What words does he use to secure his release and save his life? The passage said “he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment.”

A: What? I would never have picked these three things to talk about as my mouth formed my final words...especially since these three things are topics I know very little about. If they were so important to Paul, I need to take some time to learn a little bit more about them.

P: Father, help me to find opportunities to grow in and better understand righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment. Amen!
