Rt 66 SOAP for Sunday, December 4

SOAP = Scripture Observation Application Prayer

Lisa Adams

S: 2 Thessalonians 3:13 "As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good."

O: Paul is writing and encouraging prayer and hard work. It’s a very short book of the chapter and book of the Bible.

A: Often times, I feel weary. There are many demands in the life of a Christian, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, employee, boss…and when they all catch up to me, well, I feel weary. But the other thing I have noticed is that I need to stop and look at the big picture and what it is that I am giving my time, energy and love to. This verse spoke to me because not all of the things on my plate could be classified as doing good. When I’m weary, I know that I need to say no to more things. I need to look around and find the things that are good. Prayer, spending time reading, investing in my marriage, loving my boys, serving others (especially when it has nothing to do with my job)…those are good things for me and fill me up. And then, I do not weary in doing good.

P: God, thank you for the amazing gifts in my life. My family, my friends, my work. Thank you for loving me and meeting me right where I am. For carrying my burdens and offering me grace. God, help me to learn how to balance better and hear your voice when I find myself in the busy times. Please help me see the value in slowing down and not multi tasking. Amen
