Crossroads' youth ministry exists to help students Be Like Jesus, and Do Jesus Stuff. This coming week we will definitely be doing some Jesus stuff!
On Tuesday, a team of 13 from one.eighty will be leaving the Twin Cities and flying oversees towards their final destination of Swaziland in southern Africa. Over the past several years Crossroads has worked in the nation of Swaziland, primarily by building wells, purchasing farm animals, and sponsoring children in the Mholsheni region through World Vision. HangTime and one.eighty in fact sponsor three children in Mholsheni-Thandekile Fakudze, Sweetness Mahlambi, and Sithembiso Dlamini.
For the duration of their stay, our team will be partnering with Mission Discovery as they serve the community in the old mining town of Bulembu in northern Swaziland. While in Bulembu, our team will work to renovate homes used to house nearly 2,000 orphans, lead a daily vacation Bible school for 100 kids, and assist in caring for orphans at the ABC (Abandoned Babies for Christ) Children's Home. Our team will spend a lot of time playing with kids, tutoring, painting, and cleaning each day. In addition, they will walk around 5 miles per day! And on the 28th, they will take the 3 hour trek alongside World Vision south to Mholsheni to visit our sponsored children!
This team will return Tuesday August 2 with plenty of amazing stories to tell! Please keep them in your prayers. The team is Eric Spiker, Kelley Sehman, Krissy Gardner, Dylan Buhl, Callie Cole, Hannah Hall, Emily Oswald, Rachel Willet, Lexi Greenwood, Erin Schleede, Molly Sehman, Rebecca Duffy, and Sammy Johnson. Keep up with their journey here Bulembu 2011.
I can't wait to see the pictures, hear the stories, and learn how the love of Christ is being spread in Swaziland, Africa! I love being part of a world-wide movement of Jesus like people, doing Jesus like stuff!
